Environmental sustainability is a precondition for successful mining and smelting operations. Boliden’s environmental strategy is based on three component parts: Environmental Impact, Resource Efficiency, and Credibility. These elements address the most important areas for Boliden’s licence to operate and our long-term competitiveness.

 

Environmental Targets, 2014–2018

Metal Discharges to Water

Discharges of metals to water shall decrease by 25%

Metal Emissions to Air

Emissions of metals to air shall decrease by 10%

Sulphur Dioxide Emissions

Emissions of sulphur dioxide to air shall decrease by 10%

Carbon Dioxide Emissions

The carbon dioxide intensity shall not exceed 0.77 tonnes of carbon dioxide per tonne of metal produced

Boliden’s target is to have zero serious environmental incidents every month
